oseph Asher leaves the safety of his estate, and the Kingdom Isle shores with his fellow Shamar–along with the king, himself–dressed as merchants. The mission is to gather information and assess a new, advanced threat, one hiding under the shadow of a vanquished enemy. Plans appear to go awry, and Joseph sees his monarch captured, shackled and taken aboard an enemy vessel. His fellow Shamar’s calls to the contrary go unheeded and Joseph dives headlong into foreign waters, intent on seeking out and freeing the king… good intentions, with terrible consequences.
